Abstract

The level of student activeness in science learning is quite high, if learning practices are carried out with the right approach. The practice of learning approaches that can be used to increase student activeness is the Culturally Responsive Teaching (CRT) approach. The purpose of this research is to analyze the application of the independent curriculum using the CRT approach to the activeness of elementary school students in learning science materials. The basis of this research is because according to the analysis conducted, it proves that the low activeness of elementary school students in learning science material which is memorized and conceptual. The type of method applied in this research is qualitative with data sources obtained through interviews with fifth grade teachers of SDN Medowo 2. With this research, it is able to find out the application of the independent curriculum using the CRT approach in increasing student activeness in learning science material. The finding of this study is that the application of the CRT approach is able to increase student activeness in learning science subjects in the implementation of an independent curriculum
