This study investigates the effectiveness of BitLocker encryption in mitigating ransomware and malware threats within computer networks. Conducted at Institut Teknologi Bacharuddin BJ Habibie (ITH), the research aims to identify efficient mitigation techniques and the influence of information security policies on ransomware mitigation. The findings indicate that BitLocker significantly enhances data protection and system integrity, emphasizing the need for robust security policies. By encrypting data at rest, BitLocker prevents unauthorized access and modification, thus providing a robust defense against ransomware attacks that seek to encrypt or steal sensitive information. Furthermore, the study highlights the critical role of comprehensive information security policies in complementing technological solutions like BitLocker. These policies ensure that encryption measures are effectively implemented and maintained, thereby fortifying the organization's overall security posture. The research underscores that while BitLocker is a powerful tool in the fight against ransomware, its effectiveness is maximized when combined with well-structured security policies and practices. This holistic approach not only mitigates current threats but also prepares the organization to respond to future cybersecurity challenges, ensuring sustained protection of valuable data assets.
